Who we are

Chat2Card is a browser extension and a companion website operated by Chat2Card. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@chat2card.com.

The short version

Chat2Card runs entirely on your device. There is no account to create, no server that stores your content, and no analytics or telemetry leaving your browser. The text you convert and the images you generate never leave your machine.

The extension asks for four browser permissions and uses each one only for the single purpose described below. We do not read your clipboard in the background, and we never upload anything.

Permissions we request and why

clipboardRead

Reads the text or Markdown you last copied — only at the moment you click “Read clipboard” or choose the right-click menu. We never access the clipboard unless you trigger it.

clipboardWrite

Places the finished card image onto your clipboard when you click “Copy image”, so you can paste it directly into another app.

storage

Saves your chosen template, language and layout preferences on your own device. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

contextMenus

Adds the “Generate card with Chat2Card” option to the right-click menu when you have text selected on a page.

What data the extension processes

When you use the extension, it processes the following on your device only:

• The text you copy or select, which is parsed as Markdown and rendered into a card.
• The card image produced from that text.
• Your settings (template, language, layout), stored locally through the storage permission.
• None of this is sent to us or to any third party. The rendering, image capture (html-to-image) and PDF assembly (pdf-lib) all happen locally in your browser.

Does Chat2Card upload anything?

No. The extension makes no network requests to our servers, because it has none. It does not call home, does not embed remote code, and does not load third-party scripts. You can verify this yourself: the extension works with your internet connection turned off.

The only outbound traffic the extension can produce is content you explicitly choose to share through your browser — for example, pasting an image into a web app. That traffic goes to the destination you choose, not to us.

This website and cookies

This website (chat2card.com) is a separate product from the extension. It may use cookies and local storage for limited purposes such as remembering your theme preference and, where enabled, measuring traffic and serving advertisements. Those practices are described in our Cookie Policy.

The website does not require you to submit personal information to read the documentation. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.

Third-party services

The extension integrates no third-party SDKs and sends no data to external services.

On the website, third-party services such as Google AdSense and analytics providers may set cookies when those features are enabled. This happens only on the website, never inside the extension, and is governed by those providers’ own privacy policies.

Children’s privacy

Chat2Card is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the extension stores no personal data on a server, there is nothing to collect from anyone.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA and similar)

Because Chat2Card does not store your content or personal data on any server, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. Your data lives on your own device.

You can clear the extension’s locally stored preferences at any time from your browser’s extension settings. To exercise any right under GDPR, CCPA or a comparable law, or if you have a privacy question, email privacy@chat2card.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make a meaningful change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, note it on the site. The current version always applies from the date shown.
