Features

Everything you need to make content look good

Chat2Card is a focused tool. It does one job — turning text into a well-typeset card — and tries to do it properly.

One-click clipboard capture

Copy a Markdown file, a blog draft or an AI answer, then click Read clipboard. Chat2Card parses it instantly. You can also select text on any page and pick “Generate card with Chat2Card” from the right-click menu.

Ten hand-tuned templates

Classic, Midnight, Letter, Aurora, Minimal, Pine, Morandi, Tech Blue, Key Points and a dedicated Xiaohongshu cover layout. Each one is a curated set of typography, spacing and colour rules — not a random filter.

Real Markdown rendering

Headings, ordered and unordered lists, tables, blockquotes, inline code, fenced code blocks with syntax highlighting, images and horizontal rules all render the way you expect.

Everything stays local

Rendering happens in your browser using the DOM you already have open. There is no backend, no upload endpoint and no analytics call. Turn off your Wi-Fi and it still works.

Automatic pagination

Long content does not have to become an unreadable strip. Insert a `---` divider to split the content into multiple cards, then export them all at once as a numbered image set.

Aspect ratios that fit the platform

Pick a ratio for the destination — 3:4 for Xiaohongshu, 1:1 for Instagram, 16:9 for slides — or let auto-fit choose the closest ratio that avoids awkward cropping.

Fine-grained typography control

Adjust card width, base font size and padding with live preview. Add a title, an author line, a date stamp or a small brand mark when you need attribution.

PNG, PDF and direct paste

Download a PNG at 1×, 2× or 3× pixel density, export a multi-page PDF, or copy the image straight to your clipboard and paste it into WeChat, Slack, Notion or a document.

Four interface languages

The extension interface ships in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and remembers your choice between sessions.

Templates

Ten styles, one keystroke away

Switch templates and the preview updates instantly. Your content is never re-typed — only the presentation layer changes.

How it works

Three steps, about ten seconds

No sign-up, no onboarding flow, no template marketplace to browse first.

  1. 01

    Copy your content

Select a Markdown document, a section of a webpage, or an answer from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other assistant, and copy it. Alternatively, select the text and use the right-click menu.

  2. 02

    Open Chat2Card

Click the toolbar icon or press Alt + Shift + C. Hit Read clipboard and your content appears in the live preview, already parsed as Markdown.

  3. 03

    Pick a style and export

Choose a template and aspect ratio, tweak the width or font size if you like, then copy the image to your clipboard or download it as PNG or PDF.

Tip: Alt + Shift + C opens Chat2Card from anywhere in the browser.

Privacy

Your content never leaves your browser

Chat2Card has no server. Markdown parsing and image rendering both happen locally, using the rendering engine your browser already runs. We do not operate an account system, we do not run analytics inside the extension, and there is no endpoint for your content to be sent to.

Read the full privacy policy

No uploads

Your text and generated images stay in local memory and on your own disk.

Minimal permissions

Clipboard access, local storage and a context-menu entry. Nothing else is requested.

Local settings only

Template choice, language and layout preferences live in your browser storage and are never synced to us.

Works offline

Disconnect from the network and every feature keeps working, which is the simplest proof that nothing is being sent.

Use cases

Who actually uses this

Chat2Card started as a way to stop screenshotting AI chats badly. It turned out a lot of people had the same problem.

Sharing AI answers that are worth keeping

A good ChatGPT or Claude answer deserves better than a cropped screenshot with a scrollbar in it. Paste the reply, pick Key Points or Midnight, and you get a clean card with readable typography and properly highlighted code.

Typically used by · AI power users, prompt engineers

Xiaohongshu and Instagram covers

The Xiaohongshu template renders a 3:4 cover with an oversized headline and automatically extracted bullet points. Write your outline in Markdown, export the set, upload.

Typically used by · Content creators, social media managers

Study and reading notes

Turn a chapter summary or a set of flashcard-style notes into cards you can actually flip through on a phone. The Letter and Pine templates are built for longer reading.

Typically used by · Students, lifelong learners

Code snippets for posts and slides

Fenced code blocks keep their syntax highlighting. Export at 3× density and the result stays crisp on a projector or a Retina display.

Typically used by · Developers, technical writers

Release notes and internal updates

Paste your changelog Markdown, choose Tech Blue or Minimal, and drop the image straight into WeChat Work, Slack or Feishu without fighting a rich-text editor.

Typically used by · Product managers, team leads

Quotes and excerpts

Pull a paragraph you liked out of an article, add attribution in the author field, and you have a shareable quote card in a few seconds.

Typically used by · Writers, newsletter authors

Why a browser extension instead of a website

Online card generators work fine. But an extension removes the two steps that actually cost you time.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

If something is not covered here, send us a note and we will add it.

See the full FAQ

Is Chat2Card free?

Yes. Every template, every export format and every resolution is available at no cost. There is no paid tier, no export watermark and no usage cap.

Does my content get uploaded anywhere?

No. Chat2Card has no backend service. Markdown parsing and image rendering both run inside your browser. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet — the extension continues to work normally.

Why does it need clipboard permission?

The core workflow is “copy something, then turn it into a card”. Clipboard read permission lets the extension pull in what you just copied with one click, and clipboard write permission lets it place the finished image back on your clipboard so you can paste it directly into WeChat or a document. The extension only reads the clipboard when you explicitly click the button.

Which browsers are supported?

Chat2Card is built for Chromium-based browsers — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and similar. A Firefox build is produced from the same codebase.

Can I use the images commercially?

Yes. You own whatever you create with the tool. Chat2Card claims no rights over your content or the images you export. Do make sure you have the rights to the source material you paste in.

How do I split long content into several cards?

Insert a line containing only three dashes (---) wherever you want a break, then enable “Split on ---”. Each section becomes its own card, and “Export all” saves the complete numbered set in one go.

Stop screenshotting. Start sharing.

Install Chat2Card and the next good answer you read is one keystroke away from being a card worth posting.
